Do you know / have heard of Gunadarma University? If you do not know / hear it, Gunadarma University is one of the most prestigious private universities and is able to compete with other state universities in Indonesia. Gunadarma University was established on August 7, 1981 with the name of the Program Pendidikan Ilmu Komputer (PPIK). After changing its name several times and through a long struggle in facing various challenges, finally on April 3, 1996 it officially adopted the name Gunadarma University (UG) and became one of the leading private universities based on information and communication technology in Indonesia to date.

Gunadarma University is better known by the wider community with the Department of Informatics Engineering, Information Systems and Computer Engineering. But the three Study Programs will not be able to develop and become famous as they are now if they are not supported by Information Technology facilities that are very advanced and not yet owned by other universities. 

IT facilities at Gunadarma University are :

1. iLab

           

Integrated Laboratory (iLab) is one of the IT facilities located on Campus H of Gunadarma University to support the ability of students from almost all majors.

In iLab, Gunadarma's students are required to practice independently without a lecturer or Lab assistant. Thus students are expected to be more active in learning things they might not have gotten before. iLab has a website (ilab.gunadarma.ac.id) which in general in the iLab site we can find out various things about iLab info that we will follow, for example about iLab schedules, terminal numbers, iLab card printing and of course practice modules.

2. Lepkom

           

Lepkom at Gunadarma University is a course that provides professional certification and certificates for the requirements of a bachelor's trial at Gunadarma. Lepkom is only available to students who major in computers, namely: Information Engineering, Information Systems and Computer Engineering. In the Lepkom we are taught by lab assistants who are very skilled at teaching in the courses he will teach, even though we have to pay another Rp.600,000.00/semester but this Lepkom will not be in vain because we will get more abilities and experience in the course we are currently in, especially if we can become one of the lepkom's assistant we can get relations, projects from the lecturer and more other benefits such as salary.

3. LearnIT

           

LearnIT is an IT facility that is very useful for obtaining International certificates such as from Microsoft and Cisco. LearnIT is made to get an International certificate at a price that has been subsidized by Gunadarma University, for example, like my experience during a course on Database Fundamentals organized by Microsoft.

At that time I was interested in participating in one of the courses from Microsoft, Database Fundamentals, when I looked at the LearnIT.ug site, which is an official web from LearnIT, the price of the course was Rp.400,000.00 I had time to rethink and I searched the official Microsoft site and the price I got for being able to take the exact same course was $ 127. After I saw and compared it, I decided to take a course on LearnIT only because Gunadarma University had provided a very large subsidy to be able to open a course that should be used by all students at Gunadarma University.

4. UG HotZone/UG-Net

           

If you entering campus location at Gunadarma University, there are lots of wifi signals provided by campus to support your college activities.

5. UG Library

The UG Library like it's name is the Library provided by Gunadarma University. The library has many collection of books, a reading room that is quite large and comfortable and is located in 2 campus locations, Campus D and Campus H Gunadarma University. The library that has been built has a very important role to support university students and is very helpful in making thesis and essay because in the library there is a collection of theses and essays from alumni who have graduated.

6. Internet Longue

Is one of the facilities provided by the campus to students who do not have a laptop and internet connection. Located at Campus E, Gunadarma University, Internet Longue provides a special room that contains computers and internet connectivity to support and assist students to do their assignments.

7. UG Studentsite dan UG Staffsite

UG Studentsite and UG Staffsite are web-based IT facilities that have official website : studentsite.gunadarma.ac.id and staffsite.gunadarma.ac.id. Studentsite is used to enter the student menu in which there are various kinds of important information such as seminars, workshops and even used to upload assignments given by the lecturer. Conversely, Staffsite is a site for downloading lecture material from lecturers, looking for information about lecturers from lecturer contacts, lecturer addresses to lecturers' experience and job prospects teaching at Gunadarma University.

8. Virtual Class/V-Class

Just like Studentsite and Staffsite, V-Class is a web-based IT facility that has an official website : v-class.gunadarma.ac.id. This site is used to work on assignments / quizzes given by lecturers when they are unable to teach or during national holidays which are not possible to change courses at other hours and days.





            That is some IT facilities owned by Gunadarma University and most of these facilities are not owned by other campuses so they are able to compete with other State Universities.
